FAQ: Laser performance

This page contains all frequently asked questions, as well as the corresponding answers regarding laser performance.

QUESTION: The indicated laser performance is less than 70%. What could cause this?

Check the battery status of the laser transmitter-has the battery been charged recently?
SOLUTION: Charge the battery.

Is the laser beam correctly aligned with the center of the GEPARD receiver?
SOLUTION: Align the laser beam.

Are the indicated X and Y measuring values within the valid measuring range (GEPARD 5: ±2 mm; GEPARD 15: ±7,5 mm)? Are the measuring values (numeric display) displayed in red?
SOLUTION: Align the laser beam.

QUESTION: The indicated laser performance is constantly significantly below 60% although the laser beam has been aligned exactly and is pointing to the centre of the receiver (±0.5mm).

Using the WIN-GEPARD measuring module 'Position', check the display values of the GEPARD receiver by activating the measuring process (measuring method 'Adjust') and by moving the laser beam across the entire range of the receiver. You should then see ±4mm in the display in the x and y direction, and the measuring point should move along the graphical axis. If the movement of the laser can be made visible on the sensor and the performance lies continuously significantly below 60%, either the battery status is very low or the laser source is near the end of its life. (It then needs to be replaced by RAYTEC and the device needs re-calibrating.)
SOLUTION: Send the device for repair.

If one or both axis always stops on the same measuring value when moving the laser beam across the sensor, the receiver is defective and the system needs to be sent to RAYTEC for repair.
SOLUTION: Send the device for repair.
